Jessie Weber presented 2024 Digital Accessibility Legal Update at John Slatin AccessU Conference. – Technologist

Brown, Goldstein & Levy partner Jessie Weber gave a presentation entitled “The 2024 AccessU Legal Update” at the John Slatin AccessU Conference on May 14.

Jessie’s presentation centered on the concept that digital accessibility is a civil right for people with disabilities. Using her experience as a leading, nationally recognized disability rights lawyer and advocate, Jessie provided background on the legal landscape and shared recent developments, trends, and upcoming activities in the digital accessibility legal space, with a focus on the recently issued Title II web accessibility regulations. Jessie also took time to answer questions about how recent legal developments affect the digital accessibility landscape.

The three-day digital accessibility training conference is named after the late Dr. John Slatin, a pioneering leader in web accessibility. He was co-Chair of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines Working Group (WCAG-WG) as it updated and revised the W3C guidelines (WCAG 2.0). The AccessU conference aims not just to talk about accessibility but to teach coding, usability, and inclusive design skills in an interactive and communal environment that empowers participants to integrate accessibility into their digital communications work. The conference was hosted by Knowbility, an award-winning nonprofit organization that aims to create an inclusive digital world for people with disabilities through accessible information technology.

BGL partner Eve Hill presented on digital accessibility at the 2023 John Slatin AccessU Conference.
